Brandon C. Stanley regularly uses this bass clarinet in his own music and has recorded for award-winning composers like Tom Howe. As both a composer and clarinetist, he set up his go-to mic configuration to capture the instrument’s deep, brooding, and breathy qualities.
Our goal was to create a bass clarinet library that feels expansive—able to sound larger-than-life while staying true to its warm, natural character and the distinctive charm of this versatile instrument.
That’s what makes it novel: recorded for countless scores and projects, Brandon’s personal touch in capturing the instrument truly reflects his work as a composer. We knew we wanted a bass clarinet with a rich personality and proven track record, and this one brings it to life.
The final library is intuitive to use and brings out the bass clarinet’s organic sound, staying true to Brandon’s approach and expertise in capturing the instrument at its best.
Concept
Over several months, Brandon recorded more than 1,000 improvised performances, thoughtfully playing, capturing, and shaping each note. He used his favorite microphones and gear, staying true to the approach that feels most natural to him, allowing the bass clarinet to reveal its full character.
