fix for missing or
duplicate snapshots
(pulse downloader issue)
duplicate snapshots
(pulse downloader issue)
if your snapshots appear twice (e.g., one version loads correctly and another shows as “._name”), follow these steps to fix it:
1. LOCATE THE SNAPSHOT FOLDER
macOS
/users/[user]/documents/native instruments/user content/kontakt/[library name]
Linux
/home/[user]/documents/native instruments/user content/kontakt/[library name]
Windows
c:\users\[user]\documents\native instruments\user content\kontakt\[library name]
2. DELETE THIS EXISTING LIBRARY SNAPSHOT FOLDER
delete the folder named exactly as your library ([library name]).
3. CREATE A NEW LIBRARY SNAPSHOT FOLDER
in the same directory, create a new folder with the same name:
[library name]
4. COPY YOUR SNAPSHOTS
locate where you downloaded and saved your instrument (the one installed via pulse).
open its snapshots folder and copy all contents into the new folder you just created.
example:
/users/[user]/documents/native instruments/user content/kontakt/[library name]
5. CLOSE + REOPEN KONTAKT + LOAD INSTRUMENT
there is no sound
↳ is the volume fader all the way turned up?
↳ is the lowest velocity triggered?

↳ do you have volume or plugin automation on the track that has the instrument(s) on it in your daw?
↳ is kontakt disabled?
↳ are you using a midi controller and is it working fine?
↳ are you getting any error messages?

how to use the articulation menu
↳ use the left and right arrows to go to the previous or next sound.
↳ click the articulation name to open the articulation menu.
↳ click the articulation name of the sound you want to load and it will load.
you can close the articulation menu in two different ways:
1. in the menu, click on the articulation name again
2. click the "done" button in the articulation menu once you're done choosing your articulation
can't find samples
this is likely to never happen, but if it does:
if kontakt gives you a warning like "content missing", there are two solutions to this issue:
1. click "search spotlight"
this means kontakt is searching all of your hard drives for those samples and automatically finds them.
or
2. "browse for folder" > then navigate to the folder where you saved the library, for example "WHISPERS". click "open"
to prevent this error message from appearing you can batch-resave your library. this basically means that your your reminding kontakt of where your files are stored on a computer or external hard drive.
follow these instructions:
↳ in kontakt, navigate to the disk icon
↳ click "batch re-save"
then a warning message will come up
↳ click "yes"
↳ navigate to the folder where you saved the library, for example "WHISPERS".
↳ click "open"
↳ close and open kontakt
done.
assigning midi cc
right-click any knob or slider in the interface, select “learn midi cc,” then move your controller to assign it.
how does automation work?
you can automate any control in kontakt through your daw. just assign a midi cc or use your daw’s automation lanes.
how to reset a control
option-click any knob or slider in the interface to reset it to default.
how to save your own presets
after making changes, you can save presets in two ways:
1: click the disk icon in kontakt’s interface and choose “save as...” to store your custom version.
2: click the disk icon in kontakt’s snapshot menu (looks like a camera) and choose a name for your preset...
