we spent a full day at hollywood scoring, one of la's most popular studios, exloring the double bass's unique subtle and powerful sounds. we captured its deep, haunting extended textures, designed for quiet, psychological tension that slowly creeps in.

we recorded with los angeles-based session musician jules levy, who has worked on countless soundtrack recordings such as beverly hills cop: axel f, babylon, encanto, and many more, and brought his expertise as a session player to the table.

our approach of subtly allowed us to capture the double bass's more unsettling and atmospheric side.

we made these recordings into playable, dynamic textures that add an unexpectedly understated yet powerfully unsettling emotion to your music.

we really loved recording at hollywood scoring (LA) with the wondeful engineer adam michalak.the studio provided the perfect environment to get lost in creativity and trying out things.

it was absolutely amazing witnessing adam at work, bringing his recording expertise to this instrument, especially knowing he's recorded soundtracks for movies like minority report, godzilla, pacific rim, venom: let there be carnage, and numerous more.

WHY

we wanted to make an instrument that focusses on the sublty eerie sounds a double bass can make. sounds that have grit in an understated and haunting way.

we set out ot make an double bass instrument that is not made to just cover the low range. an instrument that feel at home in the work of composers such as mark korven and johann johannsson.
