what if a double bass could become an unsettling, living presence?

we spent a full day at hollywood scoring, one of la's go-to studios, recording the double bass's unpredictable movement and fluctuating tension.

we recorded with los angeles-based session musician jules levy, who has worked on countless soundtrack recordings such as beverly hills cop: axel f, babylon, encanto, and many more, and brought his expertise as a session player to the table.

spend time on your music,
not technology.

the sounds we captured are creeping, unstable, and deeply ominous.

it's a modern, textural approach to the double bass that allows its more unpredictable and unsettling side to speak.

we transformed these recordings into playable, dynamic textures that add an unpredictably intense, subtly unnerving emotion to your music.

these sounds lend themselves perfectly for crafting ominous, deeply atmospheric music, with their sense of creeping dread and foreboding anticipation.

spend less time learning,
more time making music.

BEHIND
THE SCENES

we had a great time capturing MONOLITH's unique sound at hollywood scoring, side-by-side with the amazing engineer adam michalak.

the studio felt like the perfect place to push sonic boundaries and create those unpredictable textures and unsettling atmospheres.

watching adam work was amazing. he worked on soundtracks like minority report, godzilla, pacific rim, and venom: let there be carnage, and he became an integral part of capturing monolith's creeping, ominous essence.

we wanted to make a double bass library that broke from the expected.

an instrument that's all about sounds that shift and breathe in an unsettling, unpredictable way.

we found that there aren't many double bass instruments that utilize the less "commercial" playing techniques.

sounds that are unexpected, with grit, with character. ones you can make your own.

hollywood scoring (LA) provided the ideal space to really lean into the double bass's quiet, psychological potential, letting us explore those understated, creepy ideas.

it was impressive to watch adam michalak, our session engineer, work.

his expertise on film scores like minority report, godzilla, pacific rim, and venom: let there be carnage, was key to getting that just-right sound for SOLIPSISM's subtle tensions.

we felt something was missing in the world of double bass libraries.

most just focus on raw power or clean sounds. we wanted to explore the quiet side, where tension can sometimes build even more.

that's why we made solipsism.

it's all about sounds that are delicate, tense, and soft, textures that move and breathe in a really subtle, unsettling way.

we pushed past standard playing techniques to find those unexpected, creepy sounds – ones that don't hit you over the head, but slowly get under your skin.

it's a library designed for unique atmospheres, for those moments you want to create tension without being loud.
